I just finished writing my third Blaze novel, entiled Able-Bodied. I sold this book to Harlequin based on a 3-paragraph summary, which was thrilling, but when it actually came time to write the story...it was the most painful experience of my life. It was like doing tax returns for four straight months.
As much as I love the hero and the heroine, this book was a toughie. Maybe it's because the hero, Ransom Bennett, is a Delta Force operator and it's just not that easy to find information about Delta Force. Or that the heroine, Hannah Hartwell, is a Reiki practitioner and energy healer...I actually enrolled in a one-day Reiki seminar but it filled up so quickly I didn't make it into the class. But I think the real issue is that this deadline came so quickly on the heels of Overnight Sensation, that I scarcely had time to draw breath, especially when you throw in a two-week vacation, a two-week business trip, and then revisions and line edits for my last book.
However, there are a lot of wonderful things about this book that I do love...the hero, in particular. He's tough. And rude. And a complete skeptic when it comes to energy-healing, at least until the heroine puts her hands on him.
Here is the visual inspiration for Ransom (tell me he isn't able-bodied!):
Isn't he gorgeous?? Pair him with Hannah, below....
The chemistry between these two is sizzling hot. I can't wait to see the cover for this one when it comes out. Watch for Able-Bodied on bookstore shelves in Feb 2009!
